keymap help for UK -> US keys " @ # - Atrix 4G lapdock

Tue Mar 18, 2014 12:48 pm

I recently got a Atrix 4G lapdock and unintentionally bought it with a UK keyboard. I have mapped the Raspi (from US) back to UK and obviously it works fine. I have several Atrix 4G lapdock with US keyboard (used in training) and they are all fine.

Since I want it to use a US like keyboard map, I need to remap " @ and # only back to their normal place. If I use the US keyboard layout, other keys are misplaced, like \ | etc.

I have been successful at fixing this in X (xmodmap -pke and modifying the keys). However, I am a bit lost (and I am sure it is super simple) at how to modify /etc/default/keyboard to include a new keymap file for these keys only.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

I guess my putty was not configured properly.

I was able to use

sudo dumpkeys > keys.orig
sudo loadkesys < keys.US

I am sure I am a novice at this, but it was painfully slow to change just " and # signs. Working on a few more keys at the moment.

Closed.
