How to make files downloaded by Pi be stored on my NAS ?

Sat Mar 08, 2014 1:33 pm

Hello,

I created a directory on the Pi to be mapping to my NAS via NFS

Code: Select all

192.168.1.51:/volume1/video /media/video/Downloads nfs nolock,intr
Everything goes right when I read music or movies from my NAS via this directory, however, when I download stuff from the internet onto the Pi in the /media/video/Downloads directory, it stores it there.

How to make the file be stored on my /volume1/video NAS folder ?

Thank you

• Don't like the board ? Missing features ? Change to the prosilver theme ! You can find it in your settings.
• Don't like to search the forum BEFORE posting 'cos it's useless ? Try googling : yoursearchtermshere site:raspberrypi.org

i am actually trying to download some files via Transmission, (I'm pretty new in Linux commands, so I don't really know what commands are run in the background when I use the WebUI to do the downloads)

You need to configure transmission to save files to a specific directory. Google for configuring transmission.

I have configured Transmission to store the data to my /media/video directory...which is mapped to my NAS (/Volume1/video)...but the video gets stored onto the /media/video directory. How to make it go store the data on the mapped directory, and not the local one ?

What is the result of the following commands on the Pi:

Code: Select all

$ mount | grep video
$ ls -l /media/video/Downloads
Using Linux command line usually boils down to these three things:
#1) Respect the privacy of others.
#2) Think before you type.
#3) With great power comes great responsibility.

I'll have to answer you this evening (I'm in Europe) when I'm back home. I'll try it. ;)
Thanks

EDIT:
ok, I've found my error... my directory was not mounted :roll: (the sudo mount -a did not work for some reason )
