Raspberry Pi Will not Output Video

Thu Mar 06, 2014 9:39 pm

I have tried using HDMI and RCA Composite, with numerous cables and different monitors and no matter what I do my Raspberry Pi will not boot/display video. I have tried hitting 1 and 2, and 3 and 4 on the keyboard to switch video outputs and nothing happens. I have also checked the 'boot sticky' post and it did not help either.

My Pi has never booted before, though the power light is one. Is it possible it's DOA?

Thanks for your help!

If only the power light is on then the Operating System isn't running. The green light doesn't flash? Troubleshoot the OS. Lots of information here about SD Cards, flashing OS's, re-flashing OS's. etc.

Given only the red PWR led on (and not even the faintest green ACTivity) -
1st. suspect - poor quality PSU and/or connecting cable - there should be at least 4.75 V between testpoints TP1 & TP2 (marked as such on the pcb) especially if nothing is plugged in to the USB and/or HDMI ports (a Pi can boot "headless" ie. w/o keyboard, mouse, monitor).
2nd. suspect - (esp. if testpoint voltage is between 4.75 to 5.25V) SDHC card not making proper contact in the card slot - inspect for bent or damaged pins etc.
See this "sticky" thread for more info: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 28&t=58151
Trev.
Still running Raspbian Jessie or Stretch on some older Pi's (an A, B1, 2xB2, B+, P2B, 3xP0, P0W, 2xP3A+, P3B+, P3B, B+, and a A+) but Buster on the P4B's. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm

Hi guys,
I know the card works and that not any pins are bent/broken. I've installed NOOBS twice though and it still doesn't work.

I guess I will need to find a voltmeter somewhere. I only have one Power Supply to use and that may be the problem.

Thanks!
