New Pi is very slow.

Sat Feb 08, 2014 4:31 pm

Im new to Raspberry Pi and Linux in general and I bought a Pi with the goal of using it to stream video from the Pi camera to a computer on the same network. Ive used the camera guide to stream raspivid and Ive also tried gstreamer and the output from both are so laggy that its unuseable and half the time I get just a frozen frame. In trying to figure out what the problem might be I installed wavemon to see if my wifi connection might be the issue but while running wavemon and operating the Pi headless theres even a lag between changing tabs in wavemon. Im using using Terminal on a Mac to ssh into the Pi, how responsive should I expect the command line to be? Should it take a full second to backspace a character or 10 s to change a tab in wavemon?
