How to set up a Dynamode USB wifi dongle?

Wed Jan 01, 2014 10:57 pm

Hello

I purchased a "Dynamode WL-700N-RXS 150Mbps Nano 802.11n Wireless USB Adapter Dongle" for wifi on the Pi, it being advertised as "designed for the Raspberry Pi", and "easy to set up".

Problem is that although I have followed the installation directions both from the www and from the "Raspberry Pi for Dummies" textbook, the dongle is not seen at all (I have a Raspberry Pi Model B and Raspbian OS).

Any advice as to how to set up very much welcome! (PS I am very new to all this). Given that I also cannot get good resolution on the screen of my HDMI TV (see my post in " Beginners"), I am rapidly becoming disheartened at the complexity of my /my daughter's new Christmas Pi.

Best wishes. Phil.

What does the command lsusb show.

You could take a look here http://www.raspberrypi.org/forum/viewto ... 58#p387358

Thanks

The bit I think is relevant for the USB wifi dongle when I type lsusb, is:

Bus 001 Device 005: ID 148f:7601 Ralink Technology, Corp.

That's right. The link I gave you in the previous post shows the problems people are having with this adaptor.

I think you will find it much simpler to buy a different wifi adaptor. I would recommend an Edimax EW-7811Un.
