Samba stops working

Mon Nov 18, 2013 7:03 pm

Hi,

I have set up samba on my Pi. Everything works well ... except that after a while, samba stops working. I have to manually restart it using SSH to have access to my shared folder. I don't really know how to go about fixing this issue :? Could somebody help me and tell me where I should investigate ?

Thank you in advance!

What's in your samba logs?
Which are in /var/log/samba on my system?

Thanks for reading me. :)

Which one should I look at? log.smbd shows a lot of errors related to printers.

Look at all, you should be able to use sed/awk to remove lines that are informational to get to the error messages.

Check out this link to remove the printer errors.

The samba log file should hopefully give you some idea as to why its stopped working.

Where are you connecting to the shares from? Have you tried using smbclient on the pi to check if the shares are still available when you can no longer connect.
