omxplayer in qemu

Should omx player be working in QEMU?
I've done the install as said on these postings
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... f=2&t=5543

but when i type the sudo apt-get -f install

0 upgrade, 0 newly installed, 0 to be removed and 42 not upgrade.

then if i try omxplayer --help or anything like that it just says illegal command.

The result from apt-get is unlikley to be caused by omxplayer, rather you have other problems with your Debian packages, You will find help via a Google search on this.

That omxplayer returns "illegal instruction" in qemu is anticipated; it does not have the hardware the application expects. The upstream developer is unlikely to consider this a bug.

I've also tried to get the hello_video app that comes installed with the image working but this give a an error, (I think its vhiq or something like that) after researching this error is because of the GPU, so I take it because its only an emu it doesn't emulate the graphics chip and I won't be able to get any video example working?, is this correct?

QEMU won't emulate the GPU, so no accelerated apps will work.
