Rpi does not boot up [SOLVED]

Mon Nov 04, 2013 10:16 am

I was using my Rpi as a download manager (pyload), and it was running for quite a long time during the recent days. Yesterday it froze when I tried to access it via ssh. When I unplugged and plugged it back, it didnt work.

Symptoms/Facts

1. RED Led on, other Leds do not light up
2. Sometimes RED Led on, and GREEN Led flashes three times.
3. Tried several SD Cards/Adapters.
4. The SD Card slot looks fine.
5. It is summer here. Temperature gets around 25-30 celsius.

Symptoms 1 persists most of the times, at rare cases I get symptoms 2. Do you think the Rpi might be broken because of long hours of use (Heavy SD Card write operations because of download manager)?

my RPi is on 24/7 and works fine

What power supply are you using?
How is the hard disk connected to your pi?

My power adapter is a 5V 1Amp.
I dont have a hard disk connected, I use the SD Card to store all the files.

The SD Card is a Sandisk 16GB (http://www.sandisk.com/products/memory- ... r-android/)

I'd say that the SD card had reached end of life due to the heavy demand put on it - BUT you say you ahve tried multiple cards and it still doesn't work?

Have you tried the latest Raspbian installation on a new card?

Tried with 2 different SD cards. I am currently downloading the newest versions of NOOBS and raspbian, I will try them once I get them.

I finally found out what was wrong. It was the power adapter. It was not of that cheapo quality but it was the best out there. It provides a consistent power source. The issue was with the usb port. I had bought this adapter on ebay and the seller simply took an off-the-shelves power adapter, removed the casual charging pin and replaced it with a micro USB. The wires were badly soldered and I am pretty sure the issue was a result of low current or a short circuit. Fortunately I fixed the wires and usb port and my rpi is working as before.
