Sharing Laptop internet with RPi

Sun Oct 06, 2013 7:05 am

Hi,

I am trying to share my laptop internet connection with the raspberry Pi.I've googled it out and followed the steps given in this tutorial,
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 26&t=39733
When I try to ping google I get the following message,

[email protected] ~ $ ping google.com
PING google.com (74.125.236.67) 56(84) bytes of data.
^C
--- google.com ping statistics ---
510 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 509000ms

My /etc/network/interfaces file,
auto lo

iface lo inet loopback
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.137.2
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.137.1

allow-hotplug wlan0
iface wlan0 inet manual
wpa-roam /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
iface default inet dhcp

The /etc/resolv.conf file is,
nameserver 192.168.137.1

I am using Windows 8 and I am using a 3g dongle to connect to internet from my Laptop.I have enabled ICS for the connection and configured the ethernet address of my Laptop as follows,
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.137.1
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0

If anyone has any solution please help me out

Thanks in advance

Windows 8 will act as a basic DHCP server under Internet Connection Sharing, therefor no requirement for static IP addressing !
Searching is easy, most questions have been asked before !
