Camera Activation

Sat Sep 28, 2013 7:57 am

Camera is connected on ribbon cable

I have followed the steps to update the kernel -
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

When I open raspi-config to select the camera option the option is not visible

When I run raspistill -o test.jpg to trouble shoot I get the following message -
Camera not enabled in this build. Try running 'sudo raspi-config" and ensure
that "camera" has been enabled

What must I do to enable the camera option

You may need to update the rpi config app if your install is old. I think you can dothat inside raspi config itself.

Thank-you

I was following the documentation on how to install the camera
The screen shot showed the camera config as No.9 (at the end of the list)
on the rapsi-config menu.
When you run the latest update the camera config is in the middle - Item No 5.

I need glasses, and I am sure some other newbe's are going to make the same mistake ;)
