I have a Pi working as a cloud and print server at home. I have a HP MFP connected to it and works well.
I bought a Canon LBP2900B for volume printing and have been trying to set it up with the Pi for the last two days.
Cups is able to identify the printer but it is stuck at "Idle - "Sending data to printer.""
Tried downloading the source and compiling but it fails with various errors.
Quick scout on google indicates that there are no drivers for this printer on Arm.
Has anyone been able to setup this printer succesfully. If so please share the procedure/driver etc.
Thanks in anticipation.
Re: Canon LBP2900B Printer
Have you tried installing "printer-driver-cjet" package.

OP, what happened? Did this solve your problems with the printer? Trying to set up lbp 2900 myself atm.

Does anyone have found a solution ?
I've never been able to make this printer work correctly on Linux (x64 or x86).
Seems be the same on Arm.

What I can't understand is that I CAN get this to work by connecting to my Asus router using the LPR protocol. The Asus router is running Linux on an ARM processor! I can't, however, get this working on my Pi.

No. It is connected to the USB port of the router (which runs an ARM Linux) and is then available as a shared printer on my Windows boxes - which is my ultimate aim.

The Router software is irrelevent, the Router just provides an ethernet to usb interface for the LPR protocolchorlton2080 wrote:No. It is connected to the USB port of the router (which runs an ARM Linux) and is then available as a shared printer on my Windows boxes - which is my ultimate aim.
When printer connected to Asus Router I presume CUPS does not recognize it as a LPR printer ?
Maybe you need to install foomatic driver in Raspbian so CUPS may offer alternative driver ?

Sorry, missed your URL.fruitoftheloom wrote:It does state in my posted URL it is a 'paperweight'
Guess that "Paperweight" means there is no way to make it work and it is fully useless with Linux (Arm or not)

Re: Canon LBP2900B Printer
Anybody with success on the ARM drivers?... x86 drivers work perfectly fine for me.
Otherwise I was also looking for alternative usbip to share the printer over IP and client to use the windows drivers. Any experts here who used this config?
