Ethernet doesn't fit?

Sun Sep 08, 2013 12:07 am

I have an older white ethernet cable that doesn't fit into the pi's ethernet port for some odd reason. It's a CAT5 but would that prevent it from inserting properly? The blue ethernet fits and it's a CAT5e. Thanks for any help

I guess I'll be the one.

It's a standard. The cable terminations should be dimensionally identical within a fraction of a millimeter. Make sure the port on the RPi is not damaged, obstructed, and that the cables are oriented correctly.

Best of luck.

Ah ok finally was able to jam it in. Very scary work though. I thought I was going to break something..

I'd have chucked it in the bin and used another, they aren't expensive and it isn't worth wrecking the socket for.
