Raspbmc does not boot (black screen)

Hy guys.

I just formated my SD Card and downloaded the RaspBMC installer. It then downloaded the whole RaspBMC stuff, copied it on the SD and told me, that I am ready to boot. Awesome, right?

Unfortunately not.
I put the SD Card into the RPI and plugged WiFi and Keyboard into it, as well as the normal Lan and the HDMI cable. Then I plugged the power into the thing and then.. nothing happened.
My monitor stayed black.
The lamps in the RPI shine, but that's it.
I meanwhile tried it with 3 different SD Cards (each 16GB, Class 10/6/4), no one worked.

Any ideas?

Not clear if this a problem only with Raspbmc or with your RPi. Have you had any other OS working on the RPi or have you only tried Raspbmc?

Are you using the network installer with simple UI, the network image without fancy installer or the standalone image?

How exactly are you 'copying' to the SD card?

I don't know exactly how it works but if you see all the leds of the raspberry pi turning on, check the file

/boot/config.txt

You should also be able to see that file even from Windows if it works the same way as for Raspbian.

If you find that file, enable the following line removing the # so it becomes:

hdmi_safe=1

Reboot and try again

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

First of all: I am using the "simple UI Installer" from the raspbmc Page (http://www.raspbmc.com/wiki/user/windows-installation/).
Within the software, I accept the license agreement and simple Install it to the SD Card.

I already had another OS working on it (though it wasn't working as planned, so I decided to use RaspBMC).

I found that config.txt, but within the root directory of my SD Card. As I opened the file, I was only able to find one line with a full sentence of Text, so I just added it at the end. I'll see what'll happen.
Here is the code:

disable_overscan=1
start_file=start_x.elf
fixup_file=fixup_x.dat
hdmi_safe=1

I installed with win32diskimager 0.9.5, and I downloaded the whole image from rpi.org.

I tried the hdmi_safe = 1, it doesn't helped.

Any suggest?

edit: i see only the RGB screen on hdmi.

Yes Raspbian latest release is supported on all models of RPi

XBMC / KODI can be installed on Raspbian
