PCB Date for Rev 2

Tue Aug 13, 2013 6:23 pm

What is the newest circuit board date that someone might have for Rev 2?
I just bought (Aug 5, 2013) a piece of junk from Newark Element 14 that was
supposed to be the "new" version B.

The box they sent me looked open (possible return) and the circuit board
has 2011.12 for the date. Of course it doesn't work either. So before I have
the credit card cancel the payment, I wanted to make sure I was not jumping
to conclusions.

Anyone else have any experiance in them passing old merchandise off as "new".

Thanks, Jan Z.

If the board does not have mounting holes and does have F1 and F2 (green components between the audio socket and the USB sockets) then it is definitely Rev 1.

If it does have mounting holes and no F1 and F2 then it is not Rev 1 and you should not be concerned about the 2011 marking.

I was under the impression that no 512 Mbyte RPis were made with Rev 1 boards.

While it is not completely unknown for a new RPi to be faulty, the majority of "new RPi doesn't work" cases turn out to be due to other reasons.

There were no 512MB rev. 1.0 boards only 256MB (no mounting holes and polyfuses at USB)
There are rev 1.1 boards (rev 1.0 with 0ohm resistors rather than polyfuses) only 256MB
There were both 256MB and 512MB rev 2.0 boards. (mounting holes, actually mount points for testing I understand)
512MB version 2.0 as WordPress Server
Motorola Lapdock with Pi2B
Modded Rev 1.0 with pin headers at USB

So have you identified the board?
