Several pi issues

Wed Jul 24, 2013 4:08 pm

I'm running the 2012-12-16-wheezy-raspbian.img from raspberrypi.org (the latest one wouldn't boot for me I tried reinstalling it 4 times). I enabled ssh and I pinged the ip on my laptop it pings but it doesn't connect. Midori won't show the url bar anymore, it was giving me gtk errors, it's not anymore but I still don't have a url bar. Lastly I have an hdmi to vga adapter and it worked with fedora for the pi but it isn't displaying with raspbian (I heard maybe there's some config I can edit to force it to use the monitor?).

Edit: well someone pointed me to http://wiki.debian.org/Keyboard and I changed it via the config file and that's working :)

The Midori address (navigation) bar is a bit elusive.

If you have no Menubar, no Navigation bar, and no Bookmark bar...... nothing but a web page view, then RIGHT CLICK anywhere on the Midori web page screen, but not on the bar at the very top. Find Navigation bar at the bottom of the list and enable it. (Once enabled, Navigation bar disappears from this list).

Now you will see a tiny MENU icon in the top right side of the Navigation bar. RIGHT CLICK on that. You will get a list box where you can enable or disable all the different bars.

Now you can RIGHT CLICK on a blank part of any of these bars to get the same menu.

What I miss is a home page icon button. Getting to home page is a 2 step process by choosing Go from the menu then homepage.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.

Alright well I enabled all that and still no dice :/ Oh and new issue openbox doesn't want to launch apps for me with the super/windows key :(

Edit: It does however change workspaces with the super + function keys. Not sure why it won't launch apps with a super key combo.

I stand corrected on the midori problems, apparently I had to restart it first >_<. Still issues with openbox, ssh, and the crt monitor though.

Edit: I did service ssh status and then tried to ssh and it magically worked finally :) I had to set the /boot/conig.txt to hdmi_group=1 and hdmi_mode=4 and now my monitor is working. The only thing that's still a little whacky is openbox.
