hello, i'm new to both the Raspberry Pi and Linux and am having trouble running installed programmes they all seem to be missing something:

pacman errors saying
X Error of failed request: BadName (named color or font does not exist)
Major opcode of failed request: 45 (X_OpenFont)
Serial number of failed request: 27
Current serial number in output stream: 31

thrust /xthrust:
Initializing soundIt library v0.04...no access to sound device: No such file or directory
No sound.
Not 8 bits per pixel PseudoColor.

and extreme tux racer:
*** etracer error: Couldn't initialize video: Couldn't find matching GLX visual

Please could someone tell me what i need to install or configure to get these working?

You almost certainly cannot. It is highly likely that such packages have been compiled for an Intel processor. You need ones that have specific lly been compiled for the ARM processor used by the Pi. I would expect any site holding Pi specific build to give installation instructions.

There is a previous forum thread on this topic http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3//view ... 91&t=18949

It didn't seem to come to a solution. Maybe it is an incomplete port of the original?
