wifi delays with Raspbian 2013-05-25

Tue Jun 11, 2013 11:36 am

So, I did an “apt-get dist-upgrade” to upgrade my previous Raspbian to be as close to the latest 2013-05-25 version as possible to see if I could duplicate someone else's wifi problem, but unfortunately I created yet another one for myself. I am seeing this with two different brands of wifi dongles with different chipsets. When I ssh into my pi from Windows there are intermittent delays in what I type on the keyboard and what finally appears on the screen, or I just can't type in at all for a period of time. This anomaly locks me out typically for a couple, to as many as a few seconds, and occurs very frequently, making the connection pretty much unusable. This never occurred with the 2013-02-09 image, which I have been running on two Model B, Rev 2 pis since it was released. I understand there were several USB fixes applied to this new image among other things. Is anyone else seeing this?

Yes, my CPC / Farnell 'Wi-Pi' dongle is seeing the same effect from a newly downloaded Rasbian. The fix mentioned in http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 28&t=44897 seems to fix matters, though I only made the change an hour ago.

If you are talking about turning off dongle power saving mode, that is not my issue, as I had turned that off many months ago.

SOLVED.

After turning on network debugging I discovered it was my error. I was using a different router than I normally use (trying to save time), and my wifi reconnect script was trying to ping a non-existent network number that only exists on my other router, and as a result locked everything up every time my cron ran. Oops.
