No connection to the internet (169.254.x.x)

Hey guys,
My father and I have been setting up our Raspberry Pi with OpenELEC (and XBMC), but we are in no way getting internet. We have been trying about everything and have been looking around a lot for solutions, but now our hope is on you guys.
The problem doesn't occur to a lot of people (according to our google searches), but it is quite an annoying one. We connected the RPI to our router (new D-LINK) with an ethernet cable. Since we have DHCP activated, it should have automatically recognized it and work without changing anything.
But, it didn't... It says the cable is in, but it also says that the IP is 169.254.x.x, which indicates that it isn't receiving the right IP adres. Logging in on the router, it actually does show the correct IP that it should be connected to (192.168.0.193). Making the IP static in the XBMC does not change anything; it seems like it got the right IP then but still no connection to the internet.
We have been trying different kind of cables and have also been plugging it directly into the modem/switch. No difference at all
Does anyone here have any suggestions on what to try next? Is the device faulty or is there something wrong with the software? Thanks a lot in advance!
