Still repeated fails of rpi-update

Sat Jan 26, 2013 2:57 pm

since my Pi is still suffering from USB problems, I try to keep up to the latest firmware in the hope of improvement. However, rpi-update will hang on almost every other call.

The new versions of rpi-update are very verbose, so I can tell what's going on. At first I get lots of messages about merge failing, then it downloads the updated files to /root/.rpi-update, from where the files are then copied to their definite locations. Finally the whole process hangs, and the Pi becomes unresponsive. I can still ping it, but no ssh connections are possible.

This time, the hang occured at:

Code: Select all

»//root/.rpi-firmware/modules/3.6.11+/kernel/drivers/media/video/gspca/gspca_sn9c2028.ko« -> »//lib/modules/3.6.11+/kernel/drivers/media/video/gspca/gspca_sn9c2028.ko«
Only a hard power reset will help.

Any ideas what the problem may be?

Regards, Richard
