ALSA audio OK PulseAudio not OK

Sun Jan 13, 2013 4:15 am

I am having some problems with sound and wanted some advice on how to fix.

I am having no problems getting sound via HDMI if the ALSA drivers are used but I get nothing if PulseAudio drivers are used. This is best demonstrated if I run MPlayer. With ALSA drivers selected I can hear a playing media file on my TV but when I switch to PulseAudio drivers the same file cannot be heard. This is after having no sound at all initially and then running through the fix at the top of this forum.

I am guessing that this is a configuration issue and hopefully easy to fix. Not being a Linux guru I am not sure where to start looking to fix it. The other option I have is to remove Pulse from the system. Any advice appreciated.

OK problems solved by removing pulseaudio from the system.

All happy now. :D
