Hi,
I have 2 Raspberry 4, using passive thermal protection.
I had headache and did not understood why.
Using a decibel meter with frequency monitoring, I discovered that both of them where generating high frequency sound (noise) signal (between 19.200 and 19.350 hz).
I taught the first one was dying, I booted the second one and .. same issue.
At boot time, signal is there +/- 40 db, which is not low.
Powering it off stops immediately the generated signal/sound.
Is that a "normal" behaviour ?
Thanks i advance.

Dom

Re: Noisy Raspberry (19300 Hz sound emission)
Thanks for posting. This seems like it could be a problem, not only for people with good hearing but for various pets that might be in the house. I wonder if the Pi 400 is also affected.Dominique GEORGES wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 6:48 pmHi,

Re: Noisy Raspberry (19300 Hz sound emission)
I tried without any passive thermal protection (during a few seconds
)
Just powering it generates immediately sound signal : 19.230 -> 19.340 Hz
What strange is, my third Raspberry 4 is not suffering of that issue.
I presume the signal frequency may help expert to pointout the source.
It starts directly at power ON.
Fortunately, I just have a cat an no dog.
But I presume my cat is also suffering from that issue.
Please help my .. cat
PS : These Raspberry are running HomeAssistant, and have issue
PS : All 3 are Raspberry Pi 4B 4GB
Kind regards,
Dom

Are you using the same power supply between the noisy boards and the "quiet" board?

Re: Noisy Raspberry (19300 Hz sound emission)
can you share an image of the display of that "decibel meter with frequency monitoring" showing the "suspected value"
is the data display plotted against time?
