pianobar skipping

I've installed pianobar and after several problems I managed to get it to work. However, after every reboot I have to run amixer or after opening a station it will play for about 5 seconds and it seems to hang up.

This is the amixer command that makes it work.

amixer cset numid=3 1

I can't seem to get this to be the default amixer settings on a fresh reboot, can anyone help?

After setting the amixer try to do

sudo alsactl store

If that doesn't work there's always the option of writing a startup script or set up a cron job.

Thanks, I should have mentioned I tried that method and it didn't work. It seems as if on boot something over-rides the alsa settings. I managed a cheap hack to make it work while I search for a proper fix.
