RP4 Not booting any OS.

Tue Jun 23, 2020 12:14 am

Hi,

I formatted ALL images from Raspberry PI Imager v1.3 and it's never booting.
Official image says "resize the root partition", reboot, and loop when GUI show for 1 second.
Others, it's loop booting always.
And Kali's image says "Kernel panic".

What can I do?

Try with a different SD card

I bought a new Samsung EVO 32Go. It's the one recommanded for RP.
Nothing different.

I tried with a Kali Image 32 bits and it shows multi color display without text.

ps: I had to change the start4.elf.

What power supply?

Other SD card?

Other SD card adapter on PC?

And when you have to change the start4.elf it is possible Kali image is not fit for the RPi 4.

Kali is one of the other I tried.

RP Basic image loop boot. Ubuntu, same.

Power Supply by a fresh USB C cable powered by an USB Hub. Green LED is ok

And other adapter? I tried with 2 differents SD Card:
- One Scandisk which got broke.
- Samsung which has many way to function properly for I/O operations. But never show the GUI.

Thanks for reply anyway!

Power Supply by a fresh USB C cable powered by an USB Hub. Green LED is ok
Care to elaborate on your power supply ?

A powered Hub is unlikely to supply the 3A a pi4B requires, what is the red LED doing as that indicates 5V ok if on and not flashing.

This USB Hub isn't on a computer but on the supply directly.

A bad power supply is always the first suspect on a boot loop, when not using the official psu, especially at your pi gets part way through the boot process before rebooting, the only other thing I would check is the SD card you are using.

try testing it with H2testW https://h2testw.en.lo4d.com/windows

care to post a link to the psu you are using.

Well the hub is just that a hub, its not even powered with its own supply unless you have added one.

So its still top of my list for the cause of your problems

So is the RED LED on ?
Do you see it go out or flash ?

PSU=alimentation. Le câble a moins d'importance.
Which PSU?
