Playstation controller via Bluetooth

I say chaps,
I've got a PS3 controller working on one RPi3 but not on another RPi3. Not on Bluetooth or even via USB. Even swapping the MicroSD chips over doesn't make the other one work the PS3. The second RPi3 is about 2 years older. Is there a subtle difference in firmware perhaps? What to do?
