CUPS - Filter Folder Not There

Thu Apr 09, 2020 4:04 pm

Hello,
I've been trying to set up a print server using an RPi 2 without luck. I have uploaded the ppd file via the CUPS GUI and it placed it in the /etc/cups/ppd folder but when I go to print I get an error: Idle - "File "/usr/lib/cups/filter/brlpdwrapperhl3045cn" not available: No such file or directory". When looking for the filter folder, it does not seem to exist under cups?

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Presume it is a Brother HL-3045CN Printer, if so the official download is for x86 CPU Architecture Linux...

Thanks for the reply fruitoftheloom, the plugin is useful but didn't solve the problem. I've tried several times deleting the printer and adding it back in with either the generic ppd or with the one I had discovered (which I had working on a separate installation a while ago) but I keep getting the same error message stating that the ppd file can't be found in the /filter/ directory.

As mentioned, I did have this working on an another installation that I had been using a while ago but I don't recall any differences between my new setup and my old one.

Any other ideas?

While the HL-3045CN is discontinued, it claims to support IPP so should work out of the box. If you're directly connecting, though, all bets are off.
