As per title I'm flummoxed after finding that Windows 7 (in this case) which used to pick up the Pi's no longer does.
I have RPI2 and RPI3. The 2 is still on Jessie and I recently updated the 3 to Buster with a clean install.
At one point the raspberry always appeared on the networks section on the left Win Explorer but for some reason which is bugging me neither of them do anymore.
Some relevant info:
1) SMB 1 is disabled and I use SMB 2 however, it doesnt make a difference if I re-enable it.
2) Both Raspberrys are connected by ethernet
3) Both of course have Samba installed and working fine. ie. I can type \\raspberry2 or \\raspberry3 to get to the pi shares
at which time it appears in networks but won't persist (if the Explorer window is shut down and a new on opened it won't appear)
4) No problems SSH -ing into them both.
So this is a case of windows not discovering them but my NAS appears every time and is fine so I don't see why the raspberrys don't.
I've seen thread alluding to the move to SMB2 and disabling SMB1 being the problem however, if that's the case then my Qnap NAS would have the same problem so I am discounting this.
Also the relevant items are turned on in Network Sharing Center and if they weren't the same thing would apply to my NAS..
So ok I can type the ip or the Raspberry's name in the url but it's a bit of pain and I do genuinely want to know why it's no longer showing up if only to just understand it.
If anyone can shed some light on this I'd be grateful.
BTW. I know about wsdd but it's not a good solution and it shouldn't be necessary (NAS drive etc ..)
