Pi 4 not booting if hdmi cable plugged

Sun Jan 19, 2020 7:53 pm

I used Raspberries pi 3 since few years without particular issue. I recently bougth à 4 version and i've a problem with hdmi.

When i start the pi, red ligth is on, the green ligth blink and after 1 or 2 seconds, only the red ligth is on. If i unplug my hdmi tv screen, the boot sequence seems to restart and after few seconds i'm able ton connect with vnc or i can re-plug the hdmi and it's working.
if i boot whitout hdmi cable, the pi is booting normaly and i can connect via vnc or plug the hdmi cable.

That"s weird!! I read many things and tried various things without success:
hdmi_safe=1 => seems to boot but few second later got a black screen with a static _ in the top left corner
hdmi_force_hotplug=1 => same issue
hdmi_group=1 + hdmi_mode=31 => not working at all
config_hdmi_boost=9 => same issue

I also tried without success with a config.txt from my pi 3 that was working on the tv...

I'am using the last raspbian image and everithing is up to date.

Not sure if it's related, but i also can't use my tv remote with kodi although that the cec plugin is activated...

Could someone help me?!

A few days after my first post, I could not start, even by disconnecting the HDMI.
Finally, I bought a new pi card from Amazon and it worked out of the box. So the first one bought on Aliexpress is just shit ... :( Waiting for a refund .....
