Raspberry Pi 4 don't boot whit all

Wed Dec 18, 2019 12:16 pm

Hi, I'm Paolo Banci from Italy.
I tried in every way to start my Raspberry Pi 4
Official feeder, 3 different microsd cards.
I tried to fix the corrupted firmware. The LED flashes quickly as shown in the instructions, but then when I insert a sd card with software for raspberry pi4 it does not work.

Ok, thats the default way to do it. As a double check you could redownload Buster just in case the first one was corrupted. And use a different Sd card. I do believe with no SD card inserted you should see 4 green status LED flashes, that just repeats over and over. Its what I got with a bad SD card.

Although unlikely, it could still be a dud, it happens. Bought from a reputable source? There are lots of fake cards out there.

SanDisk is what I buy when I can. I had a brand new SanDisk card bought from a reputable retailer that was a dud. Etcher formatted and verified the card but no Pi would boot from it.

The Pi 4B, last time I checked, doesn't yet support booting directly from USB. You still need an SD card to boot from and transfer the system to USB.

I bought a 32 GB Lexar 1000x. Raspebrry starts to load and then the red LED stays on and that's it as always.

Did you download Raspbian Buster with Desktop from here https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/ ?

Did you unzip the image - there is no need to unzip when using Etcher and can corrupt the image ?

Do you have a screen connected with an HDMI cable to hdmi port 0 (nearest power connection) as well as mouse and keyboard?

Does anything appear on screen?

I tried to connect or not an LCD display, nothing changes. Etcher for software. I insert the microsd card the green LED starts its activity and after 2-3 seconds everything stops.

I have two raspberry pi 3b + and have never had a problem. This doesn't want to work at all. 4 different microsd. Software for raspberry pi 4. Nothing.

I found the solution in this video! I could hardly believe it worked, and instead after a month I can finally use it.

So the Pi couldn't recognise your screen correctly.

Setting the following in /boot/config.txt, according to the youtube video, disabled checking of the EDID/display data on both displays:

Code: Select all

hdmi_ignore_edid=0xa5000080
hdmi_ignore_edid:1=0xa5000080

I don't know why but it doesn't work again. It starts and I no longer see anything on the monitor.
It was just the worst purchase I could make!

Is there any way to get the raspberry replaced? Because I am not receiving any signal on the monitor. Not even with different monitors.
