Rasperry Pi 4 - it just hangs when upgrading.

Hello.

I need some help.

Every time I run the "sudo apt upgrade" command. It just hangs.

Specifically it happened when installing the latest kernels:

Code: Select all

Preparing to unpack .../0-raspberrypi-kernel-headers_1.20190925+1-1_armhf.deb ...
Unpacking raspberrypi-kernel-headers (1.20190925+1-1) over (1.20190819-1) ...

Progress: [ 4%] [##........................................................]
It stops at 4%.

What may be the fault? I have checked the Micro SD and it seems fine.

How long did you wait? It's a package with a lot of small files, which dpkg doesn't handle well. I think if you leave it for long enough, it will finish.

If you don't need to build out-of-tree/DKMS modules, it's safe to uninstall the package.

Maybe 20/30 minutes I waited.

Is this normal?

How do I uninstall this package?

I haven't timed it, but depending on the storage medium, I wouldn't be surprised

sudo apt remove raspberrypi-kernel-headers

Wow, didn't know it was so simple.

That did the job, thanks a lot!
