external hub power not booting pi 4

Sat Sep 14, 2019 9:50 pm

hello, i've been trying to get some external HDD mounted to the raspberry pi 4. i can mount one but once i add the other one there probably is a sort of lag of power because if i do that they both wont show up. they work both separate but not togheter. so 'tried' to add a hub. they do both work when a external power is attached but i cant reboot with it. so if i reboot with the external power it just wont boot. idk if this is a software problem or a hardware problem but it just wont boot. forgot to say that the hub is connected to one of the two usb 3.0 ports and the hub itself is of course a usb 3.0 hub wit 4 ports.
im little bit new in the program section so if one of yall want some codes or something you will have to explain step by step on how to do it.

Can you try with another hub? On the forum there are a few discussions about non-compliant USB hubs that block Pi from booting.

I have 2 x 8TB 3.5" HDDs (self powered) connected to my new NAS
did not use a hub for that
as each connected directly to the USB3.0 ports of the RPi4B-2G
boots fine....
