Getting MHS35 tft display to 480x320 resolultion

Fri Sep 13, 2019 8:13 pm

I recently bought a Kuman MHS35 (3.5") tft display from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P7 ... UTF8&psc=1 to use with my RPi 3. To date, I have had no luck getting it to make the advertised 480x320 resolution available including multiple rewrites of Buster and the same using Kuman's special distribution of Buster. Same problem with Stretch. 480x320 never is made available in either "raspi-config" or the Gui configuration utility in Raspbian. I can get a pretty display (buster desktop) at the default 720x480 resolution but it leaves the lower part of the screen inaccessible (cut off) and it can't be raised with mouse, page up/down or arrows. Somehow, in the process of loading/reloading with Etcher, I have borked 3 32 Gig SanDisk Ultra SD cards and I am pretty burned out on it.

The steps they suggest online and in their one page "QuickStart" are:

Code: Select all

sudo rm -rf LCD-show
git clone https://github.com/goodtft/LCD-show-git.
chmod -R 755 LCD-show
cd LCD-show/
sudo ./ MHS-show/
The "MHS35-show" script is beyond my feeble comprehension so I do not know what all it is doing.

Their help has been limited so far to suggesting repeating all their steps for loading the drivers and to using their distro of Buster, neither of which are any help. I would just return it to Amazon but the packaging has already been disposed of and dealing with Amazon customer service is a PITA. Any help from successful users would be appreciated. This same display is available from a variety of vendors: A 3.5" color tft display/touch panel for direct GPIO connection. I don't need/want the touch feature but it would be nice to have access to the whole desktop.
