MicroSD vs SD

Thu Dec 06, 2012 10:06 pm

Hi,
What is better to use with the raspi? SD card or microSD card with adapter?
Comparing the same brand, class and qouta.
Thanks.

I use both. I have not noticed a difference.

Less wear and tear of the SD Card holder pins since the adapter can remind inside the PI.
There are other advantages too - http://www.adafruit.com/products/966

I lost a microsd out of an adapter, I vowed never to buy another for Pi use. :)

If you're 20 years old with good eyesight, it might be a different story.
Don't judge Linux by the Pi.......

All I use are MicroSD cards... One of them in my unit mounted on the Pi Plate has the Adafruit short adapter which locks it into place (hard to lose).

I can use them in a lot of other devices. I Buy 16GB class 4 cards with adapters for around $9ea and typically get 4-5 of them at a time. Always have 2-3 new in a package ones hanging around for whatever they are needed.

They are very small though and I can see where they might not be a good idea for some uses especially if you carry your RPi around a lot.
