Rpi4 - cannot change resolution with GL driver on

Hello everyone. I am using a 4K LG HD TV. Seems no matter what video mode I specify in config.txt the pi defaults to 3840x2160 30 Hz. No way to change this via the GUI or raspy-config - the resolution menu item in the later simply does not work. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I have 4kp60 enabled so would want to use a 4K 60 Hz mode or go down to 1080p 60 Hz while maintaining use of the GL driver. Thanks!

Use the Screen Configuration utility from the Preferences menu. R click on the display, select resolution from the list.

Thanks for the quick reply! I just updated via apt so should have the latest firmware and chromium/settlings. However using the screen editor I only see 30 Hz options for 4K resolutions even with 4kp60 enabled. Is this something still being worked on?

Also even after the latest updates, 1080p 60fps video is plain out horrible. As this has been advertised as a 4kp60 capable device would be good to at least have some sort of a timeline as when this will be possible!

So turns out the latest update had disabled the 4kp60 setting, which now seems to only be available via raspi-config, no longer in the settings panel via the GUI. Upon turning it on, 60 Hz options for 4K resolutions become available via the configure display panel but this does nothing for playing even 1080p60 video decently, let alone 4K video. Hopefully this is being worked on.

For 4kp60 video you will need to use libreElec, currently that's the system that has a full implementation of the hevc decoder hardware.

But 1080p60 should be ok on Raspbian. What is your specifc setup now?

Certainly not within chromium.

Should be OK with OMXplayer though I think?

Sorry, got the wires crossed. Somebody in a thread about chromium mentioned the same thing.

Edit: Actually, same person. I wasn't too far off then. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... 5#p1498084

Thanks a bunch for clarifying! Any idea if eventually chromium will support 4K video?

OMXplayer has been updated for Pi4 and 4K60?

I'm going to have to get a 4K screen one day.
Wonder if I can walk into a TV store and try them all out?
8K at 15hz?
