How to play sounds from web sites on Raspberry Pi 4 ? (Solved)

Hi,
I have purchased a 2GB Raspberry Pi 4, which I am basically using as a small PC, with an HDMI monitor and keyboard connected and with a small speaker connected to the headphone jack.

This plays a simple WAV file OK (using omxplayer) but what I would like to do is to be able to hear the sounds from webpages, such as 'YouTube' for example when using Chromium, which I assume is possible.

I am running the latst version of Debian 'Buster' but there is presumably something else which has to be done before I can hear any sounds.

My Raspberry and Linux 'skills' are more than a little rusty, I'm afraid, so please keep any replies simple!

Thanks! :)

Using "raspi-config" I think you can set the jack connector to be the preferred output. Maybe that fixes it, I dont know if there are changes in Raspbian Buster regarding this.

Thanks for your reply and for the tip.

That of course is one way to do it, and apparently there are others also... as I found out at: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... -config.md

Anyway, all is well now thanks, so I have marked the problem as "Solved".
