None of the gpios are working in my rpi 3B .

Thu Dec 13, 2018 10:52 am

my Rpi 3 was communicating with arduino through UART. Sudddenly it stopped working . Later on when i did the gpio test I found out that none of my gpios are usable.

This is what i got on the terminal when i did the gpio test. Kindly help me troubleshoot this.

[email protected]:~ $ sudo chmod +x ./gpiotest
[email protected]:~ $ ./gpiotest
This program checks the Pi's (user) gpios.

The program reads and writes all the gpios. Make sure NOTHING
is connected to the gpios during this test.

The program uses the pigpio daemon which must be running.

To start the daemon use the command sudo pigpiod.

Press the ENTER key to continue or ctrl-C to abort...

what might be the reason for this problem?

Hi.

First question is if you had your pi using serial through UART to talk to an arduino what voltage was the arduino powered by ?

If it was 5v then the arduino would be using 5v on its serial port, but the pi gpio is 3.3v and is not 5v tolerant, so if you did not have voltage level shifting between the 2 devices it is likely that you have damaged your pi gpio.

HI

thank you for the response

I was using pro mini 3.3V . So that miight not be the problem.

The wifi is working fine .How come just one bank is not working.

Previously when i connected 5v to the rx pin just two pins(RX and TX) got damaged.
But now somehow all the gpios have become unusable even though I was using 3.3V pro mini.

Get an LED with a 330 ohm or bigger series resistor. Wire it direct to 3v3 pin1 and ground pin6 if it doesn't light swap the wires. If it still doesn't light i can't help buy a new pi?

The Tx pin is at 3.3V when the SD card is not inserted. However on boot up it shows 0V.
