Pi 3 Power Consumption issues

Tue Oct 09, 2018 2:51 am

So I have recently completely a project but am faced with a difficult issue. I have a powerboost 1000c and it cannot supply enough power to my project. Does anyone know of any solutions, or ways of reducing the power.

I have a:
Pi 3
Teensy 2.0
3.7W Class D Audio Amp (https://www.adafruit.com/product/987)

The power boost 1000C is capable of delivering [email protected]
Your 3.7watt amplifier will draw [email protected] (at maximum volume)
Your Raspberry Pi 3b can draw up to about 1.3A but most of the time won't exceed less than 0.7A
I don't know what the other stuff draws.

Add it all up and take it away from the 1Amp the Powerboost provides, you're in the negative.

Your only recourse is to buy a beefier lipo booster or remove parts.

I'm having a similar issue myself and am still yet to solve it after months of research.

If you find a suitable lipo charge booster, please let me know.

An alternative (probably won't get you down to a total load under 1A) would be to use an earlier model of Pi. Pi2B boards use less power, and the B+ even less. That speaker is still going to be a problem, though, unless you drop down to an A+ or a Pi0/Pi0W.
