Connecting via USB Jabra 510 Speaker/Mic

Tue Oct 02, 2018 4:48 pm

Hi,

I connected via USB a Jabra 510 Speaker/Mic on a B+ running

Code: Select all

Distributor ID: Raspbian
Description: Raspbian GNU/Linux 9.4 (stretch)
Release: 9.4
Codename: stretch
It's a server version, without X. I would like to use the Jabra as a mic and sync it with the camera later on.
But for the time being, I'm stuck.
lsusb gives me

Code: Select all

 lsusb
Bus 001 Device 007: ID 0b0e:0422 GN Netcom
and dmesg

Code: Select all

alsa control

Code: Select all

$ sudo alsactl init
Found hardware: "bcm2835_alsa" "Broadcom Mixer" "" "" ""
Hardware is initialized using a generic method
and of course

Code: Select all

 aplay -l
aplay: device_list:270: no soundcards found...
I modified /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

Code: Select all

# This sets the index value of the cards but doesn't reorder.
options snd_usb_audio index=0
options snd_bcm2835 index=1

# Does the reordering.
options snd slots=snd_usb_audio,snd_bcm2835
and commented

Code: Select all

#options snd-usb-audio index=-2
in /lib/modprobe.d/aliases.conf so that I now get

Code: Select all

  cat /proc/asound/cards
 0 [USB ]: USB-Audio - Jabra SPEAK 510 USB
Jabra SPEAK 510 USB at usb-3f980000.usb-1.2, full speed
 1 [ALSA ]: bcm2835_alsa - bcm2835 ALSA
                      bcm2835 ALSA
I still get

Code: Select all

aplay -l
aplay: device_list:270: no soundcards found...
Strangely this command works and produces sound:

Code: Select all

 sudo aplay -D default /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono
I can record and play though...

Code: Select all

$ sudo aplay -D default foo.wav
Playing WAVE 'foo.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Stereo
I'm sure I missed some steps in order to get this working.
Could someone please give me a pointer?

Thanks in advance.
