RPI3B+, POE-Hat and TSOP at GPIO, low range!

Tue Sep 18, 2018 7:49 am

Hello,
last weekend i wanted to change my rpi3-mediacenter to rpi3-b+ and power it via poe-hat. That includes the use of an TSOP-IR-Diode for the remotecontrol. Ive tried around for a longer time and figured out, that the range where the remote-control is working, is 1-2m (way to less) with the poe-hat and without i get a much higher (usable) range. Could anybody give me a hint how to solve that?
Ive tried to power the tsop with 5v and 3.3v but that does not make any difference.

Regards, Jan

The official RPi PoE HAT? Are you aware of its design defects?

Read the details at https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... 5&t=220984

Yes the official poe-hat. And i had the same problem as this one -> https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... p?t=220936
But i tried to repair it and i had this problem before the plug got broken too.
At the USB-Side i only used a keyboard and that worked for me. Did most of the configuration via SSH.

edit: ive seen that the thread you linked has several pages and is started to read a bit. Looks like this is some sideeffect of the more or less unusable poe-hat. I will try to separate the hat and the pi and look if the ir-diode is working then.. problem is that my case in the livingroom is a little small for this separation :x
