eth0 unstable on rpi

The ethernet interface bound to a static IP on my rpi3 model B keeps going down every few minutes, the system logs show the following:

First thing to check is your power supply.
Does the red power LED stay on at all times?

What's the rating of the PSU and are you sure you're using a good quality cable between PSU and Pi?
