sound issue (solved)

I have a sound issue. I am not a gammer or anything but when the pi boots all is fine. I can hear a click on start and when i shutdown. I have installed lx radio i believe it is called. on the task bar it show a speakerr in the top right corner, I have went to properties and set it up for mixer, tried the pcm but i still have no volume. on the speaker on the taskbar it show the sound set at 1%. I forgot to mention i am not using the hdmi cable. I am using a rca plug for the video and have my desktop speaker plugged into the pi. so can anyone tell me how to get the volume above 1%
