HELP with installing software.

Mon Aug 06, 2018 10:16 am

Hello everyone!
I can not install ANYTHING on my Raspberry pi 3B and it works, not with an SD class 10, or anything, just managed to work with NOOBS or BerryBoot, formatting with SDFormatter or SD Card Formatter and installing with Win32DiskImager or Etcher. Nothing I do in this way works for me, I only see a black screen on my TV. I spent a week taking all my free time reading, searching ... even bought an OS! (Raspand for € 7) and I do not know what to do anymore.
As I said, I only ran NOOBS and Berrybot, with which I installed Ubuntu Mate without problems.
Everything I do from Windows 10.
I implore, I beg! :( helpaaa!
From already thank you very much!

You've mentioned that NOOBS and berryboot worked, but you haven't mentioned exactly what you'd like to end up with and what you've tried. Which OS are you installing and exactly which steps are you following to do so?

I have tried to install many, just for the sake of knowing if it works, but I would like you to end up with: aikoncwd-rpi-mediacenter-master, it's a pretty complete one to put on the TV in the living room. As I said before, formatting with SDFormatter or SD Card Formatter and install with Win32DiskImager or Etcher. I must add that I have 4 SD cards, which are series 10, by the way, Raspberry Pi 3 B supports 64GB SD? one of them is 64.
Anyway, I do not know what I'm doing wrong.
On my PC I use a USB adapter to use my micro SD.
Thanks for your help

Is your pi a 3B or a 3B+? Does it have a metal heat spreader on the CPU?

It looks like you are trying to download via the pi using the micro us B as a data connection the micro usB is not for data only power.
I do strange things and am sometimes the techhead stereotype.
deal with it!

You don't need to format the card first. If your using Etcher or the win32 diskimager they will format the card for you.
Latest version of Raspbian from here? https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/

It should also be mentioned, if your doing this on a Windows PC, you will get a "this drive needs to be formatted" message when Etcher etc is done. Ignore it, do not acknowledge it, just close the popup by clicking the X in the corner. Its a false message due to Windows not being able to properly see one of the Linux partitions on the SD Card. You'll likely get that message as soon as you plug that card reader / USB drive in.

One of the Micro USB is power only. The other one is Data though, I use it all the time with a USB HUB etc to sneaker net files from a USB thumb drive. My HUB also has an Ethernet jack wich i've used to download and install software etc.
What are you basing your assumption / statement on?

The Pi 3b (whichever version) only has one micro usb port, I believe you're thinking of one of the Zero's

Ops, Yes was thinking of the Pi Zero.

The question remains, how did you come to your conclusion?

It's a Pi 3B +, I do not understand you at all, the link with the installation explanation does not differ with what I do, there is nothing different.
From here I download the .Torrent to download the image of aikoncwd-rpi-mediacenter-master.
The USB mini I use it as power, I create the micro SD on the PC and I take it to the Raspberry that is connected to the TV (HDMI), power (USB mini)

I assumed you meant 3B+, but wanted to verify. That would be it then. That software looks like it has been abandoned for years, so it wouldn't run on anything recent.

What a pity! and would you recommend some Os with parallel characteristics? multimedia and video games with the possibility of adding roms, etc.
Thank you very much for your help!

It's only for video games, right? or do you have something multimedia too?
