Zero W: No WiFi and no Bluetooth

Hello,

I just received two Raspberry Pi Zero W's. They came with a NOOBS SD-card that seemed to have an older version of Raspbian on it (February 2017) and wireless / Bluetooth did not work. So I put the latest version of Raspbian on the SD-card (March 2018) but still WiFi and Bluetooth are not working.

In fact, the Zero W that I am trying this on has exactly the problem that's described here: https://forums.pimoroni.com/t/no-wifi-b ... 1-1/5026/7

When I do:

Code: Select all

cat /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/model
it says: Raspberry Pi Model B Rev 2 - which is incorrect

When I do:

Code: Select all

sudo vcgencmd otp_dump
then I also see 30:00000000 in the output.

Does it really mean that there is something wrong with this Zero W that I will not be able to fix myself?

It really is a Zero W, on the back of the board is printed "Raspberry Pi Zero W V1.1"

Hi.
As stated in the link you posted
as far as I’m aware, no way to fix this completely in the field. You can force a particular revision ID, but I don’t know if that will result in other issues. You should contact support@pimoroni.com for a return/replacement
So you have to contact who ever you purchased your pi zeros from and get them to replace them as they have been programmed wrong at the factory.

there is another thread about this very problem , if I can find it I will post a link.

Edit.
