Can't connect to wifi but wifi country has been set properly (Pi 3 Model B+)

I have just set up the Pi but i still can't connect to any Wifi Networks. It just complains about setting the Wifi country which i've already done through the raspberry pi configuration gui and rebooted but it still complains about it not being set but when i go in there its already set to my country. Is there any workarounds? Is it the new wifi chip not having proper drivers?

Are you sure you set the wireless country code? That dialog has two country options - make sure you get the right one.

I've set Both the Locale and wifi Country.

Is this a new install of Raspbian, and have you done

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

?

Anything else you may have installed/done that may have made things go awry?

I'll try to update. I haven't installed anything, i've just set it up with the raspberry pi configuration. Locale, Timezone, Keyboard and Wifi country are all set to Sweden in my case like normal.

I apologize if this counts as Bumping.

I have upgraded but it didn't fix the problem. I've also found that if i set it to another country and then set it back, it works momentarily and then goes back to the problem again after rebooting. I sucessfully connected to my home Wifi on the 5GHz network and even though it still says that its not properly set up wifi still works now and it has internet connection, I've also unplugged the ethernet cable to verify and wifi is still connected and the icon now shows the signal strength but it still says "Set Wi-Fi Country on Localisation tab of Raspberry Pi Configuration to enable Wi-Fi"

When i go into "wpa_supplicant.conf" everything looks like this but i wont post my SSID and password publicly on the forums

If you set it to another country and leave it there, does it stay working? I wonder if its a specific issue with the swedish setting.

Try Austria or Belgium - both have the same bands as Sweden (note loads of other places do, they are just two random ones I picked)

Does the following suggestion get you further?

sudo rfkill unblock all
Your wifi might be blocked -- it was on my RPi 3B+ and unblocking it did the trick.

This fixed my issues with wifi on the 3B+, where wlan0 was not showing up in ifconfig, while wpa_supplicant was setup correctly, cheers.

SSID and psk are both correct and set to my home credentials
Starred out my password due to privacy concerns. But all details are correct. Could it be that update_config=1 be the cause that it asks to set it up after every reboot?

Tried the rfkill and it didn't help, not even after reboot. Also checked that rfkill list didn't show up anything odd and it just said

Running the last 2 commands come up with bssid/frequency/signal level/flags/ssid of the found networks and it found several networks and shows details about all the fopund ones.

That looks like the key. For some reason in your case the country line in /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf is not applying.

The iw reg set SE does work as a hotfix and the Wifi panel can open normally but goes back to normal after rebooting again asking for wifi country again. Can i get the command to run on startup to make it run it automatically?

Hello,

I am having a similar problem here in Australia. I purchased the new Pi 3 B+ for my son's birthday and I have been unable to connect to the house wifi. Instead of the wifi symbol there are two parallel lines with red crosses through them, and it is asking me to set my country (which I have done, both through the command prompt and the menu (I can't remember the header, configuration or personalise?).

I have a very basic computer knowledge and I hope I'm not doing something silly but I have checked quite a few different sites for troubleshooting, tried unblocking, configured the wifi details and password and I am still not getting anywhere.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, or if you found a solution please let me know!

Have you done anything in /etc/default/crda ? Does anything change if you put REGDOMAIN=SE in there and reboot?

I have added SE but it didn't fix the issue.

Its blank after opening the file, no country is listed how can i edit it as the normal text editor doesn't work. How can i change it?
sudo nano /etc/default/crda
Make the change
ctrl+x, y, enter

Have done it now but it didn't fix the issue. The file now has SE in it, even after reboot though so it has saved the setting properly.
