Pi 3b+ Kernel panics (Rasbian)

Something doesn't seem to be quite right with my Pi 3b+.
I've moved from a 3b to a 3b+. That required a distribution upgrade (Jessie to Stretch), so I've changed a few variables at the same time.

Since moving I've had a two problems

1) z-way-server (Razberry) has fallen over (Thus far it's never done that on me) and needed restarting
2) The whole pi locked up with a kernel panic, and I had to power off and power on again (LEDS: Red and Green both locked on). Kernel panic was at wicd, which makes me think it's something pretty fundamental.

And the fact I've had two similarly unexplained problems is making me think hardware.
PSU is a good quality tablet PSU, I've got an "Official" psu on order.

Supplier is telling me the only "Supported" answer is to run from a virgin install and that a 3b+ isn't supported with an upgraded OS. Honestly feels like I'm being fobbed off, but happy to listen to the experience of others.

Did you try a fresh install of Raspbian Stretch 2018-03-13?

Not as yet, there is an awful lot of work to do to move z-wave and a pile of automation across to make that happen.

start from a fresh install
and add the thing you need to make it work the way you want,
write down all the steps so you know what your doing.

I'd also recommend trying from a fresh install. If the problem is still there on that, then we can look more closely.

Distribution upgrades are difficult to get perfect. Its always possible some tiny little difference hasn't made it across in an upgrade.

For example, i have a desktop at home that has been continually upgraded since Ubuntu 5.something. The drive has also moved between devices as the box has been upgraded.

And sometimes, when typing fast it get characters the wrong way round, or misses second presses of the same key. I suspect the only way to fix it will be to start afresh because as far as I can tell, I'm the only person in the world with this particular issue.

You can also get unexpected effects like that with a weedy power supply.
