So I Followed the Blog and Upgraded from Jessie to Stretch

Tue Mar 20, 2018 1:18 am

Guys,
As per thread title and it all sort of worked. However, when I do the routine "update" I get a lot of lines still referencing "jessie". The system does report its running "Stretch".

And before anyone tells me I should have simply re-started at the top with a new NOOBS... Didn't want to do that given the hard won stuff I had working on it and doing so perfectly happily. Also, had I known updating to "Stretch" would have lost me "EmulationStation" I wouldn't have done it.

What am I doing wrong?

Possibly you have extra repositories that still refer to Jessie.

Post the output of apt-cache policy That might give some clues.

rpdom,

Yep. tried your suggestion.. see below.

Code: Select all

pi@pi3b:~ $ sudo apt-cache policy
Package files:
 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     release a=now
 500 http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian stretch/ui armhf Packages
     release o=Raspberry Pi Foundation,a=stable,n=stretch,l=Raspberry Pi Foundation,c=ui,b=armhf
     origin archive.raspberrypi.org
 500 http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian stretch/main armhf Packages
     release o=Raspberry Pi Foundation,a=stable,n=stretch,l=Raspberry Pi Foundation,c=main,b=armhf
     origin archive.raspberrypi.org
 500 http://dl.bintray.com/pipplware/dists/jessie/armv7/binary ./ Packages
     release c=
     origin dl.bintray.com
 500 http://dl.bintray.com/pipplware/dists/jessie/main/binary ./ Packages
     release c=
     origin dl.bintray.com
 500 http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian stretch/rpi armhf Packages
     release o=Raspbian,a=stable,n=stretch,l=Raspbian,c=rpi,b=armhf
     origin mirrordirector.raspbian.org
 500 http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian stretch/non-free armhf Packages
     release o=Raspbian,a=stable,n=stretch,l=Raspbian,c=non-free,b=armhf
     origin mirrordirector.raspbian.org
 500 http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian stretch/contrib armhf Packages
     release o=Raspbian,a=stable,n=stretch,l=Raspbian,c=contrib,b=armhf
     origin mirrordirector.raspbian.org
 500 http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian stretch/main armhf Packages
     release o=Raspbian,a=stable,n=stretch,l=Raspbian,c=main,b=armhf
     origin mirrordirector.raspbian.org
Pinned packages:
I don't believe that I have done anything other than what was describe in the Blog. There were quite a number of line reports from the "update" option that included "jessie".

Quite where I go from here not sure. Perhaps I just rescue what I can, take the hit, and flush the SD and go for a new NOOBS.

Thanks for the input.
