Sick Pi3

Sun Feb 18, 2018 10:59 pm

Hello All,

Performed a update and upgrade last night on my Pi 3 and now find that it freezes on command line or stretch desktop after a few minutes.

I am not familiar with readin stack outputs but I see the kernal panic.

Frozen garbage displayed on screen...

Or on occasion I see the following stack...

Does anyone have any advice on how to remedy this? After I upgraded I had a popup in stretch to say that my old cfg was backed up.

Thanks

I've had this happen to my pi in the past, but as I keep a back up of my working projects I just re-flashed the SD card and did the update again and it was fine.

I suspect a bad download was the cause of the problem leading to corruption of some file/files on the SD card, re-flashing the SD card may be the only option.

Is there an option to start up using the old config files?

I believe you can do something if you used noobs to set your SD card up but I have never used noobs so can help with that.

the problem is you don't know exactly what is corrupt so fixing it becomes impossible.

the best you can do is created a new SD card with raspbian on it and then using a card reader attached to your pi running the new SD card access your old SD card and copy off any data/programs you have created

As a learnt a long time ago if your work is important to you keep a backup of it and a backup of the backup.
