You can benefit from my folly. I spent 30 days and many needless purchases, including a 2nd pie, only to discover that the standard-to-mini HDMI adapter was causing the HDMI signal to drop out on my Zero W. Adafruit, Part No. 2819. Don't use it! When fully inserted, it disconnects or shorts the inputs. It has to be pulled out 1/16th inch to work.
