My Pi doesn't seem to output any sound. I tried connecting headphones and nothing...

Any ideas?

Did you read https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... -config.md ?
Thanks for the link. I had a look at the page but it's all about coding.

Is there no visual way of doing it?

No idea. My only desktop Pi doesn't have sound output...
Why not just try it from the CLI. It's not rocket science!

no!

its not coding, its making some choices from a menu, and in some cases a bit command line use.

A raspberry pi is not about hand holding, its about learning to use a computer in its unadulterated form, if you cannot cope with that a PI is not for you!

Right click on the speaker icon in the task bar and choose Analog.
Left click to set volume.

Note that the Audio on AV jack is intended to be connected to amplified speakers or to red and white RCA type audio inputs on a TV or other audio equipment.
Headphones should still work but not optimal.

Right-clicking on Sound and changing to Analog doesn't help. Still no sound using headphone jack...

Test with mains power speakers, headphones have no amplification.

Depending on your configuration, it is not always necessary to need amplification.

In my case, one pair of headphones is almost inaudible, however when I connect up a 5.25" 4Ohm speaker salvaged from an old hifi system from the 90's,I get perfectly acceptible volume.
Could be better (thats where my PAM8403 comes in) but it is otherwise easily heard from several feet away.

I'd suggest trying a different pair of headphones first, if you need to buy powered speakers.
