I have a project where i'm using my raspberry pi for. i was using a pi Zero for this. It was all working fine until yesterday, when i tried to power it and somehow it died. On the pi Zero there is no power led, so all i saw is that it didnt start booting. Also it got pretty hot pretty fast around the main chip.
Then, i tried a Raspberry pi A+ i had. First i booted it with a usb power supply, was booting fine, power led was on etcetera. Afterwards i tried to boot it with some of the gpio parts connected. I thought the A+ had more power protection, but this board died in the same way

So now i'm stuck with two dead PI's. What i see is the following:
- No PWR led (stays off)
- Green ACT led stays pretty dim
- When i hook the usb port up to a bench power supply the voltage drops from 5v to 2.5v.
- using a normal usb power supply also gives 2.5v off the 5v gpio and around 1.4v from the 3.3v line.
Can someone please help me? I can measure out components with a multimeter and i have a decent soldering iron here if needed... The main problem is, i ordered a new PI zero but i want to figure out the problem before i connect it to prevent another dead PI.
