My short term solution to this problem was an elastic band to hold the uSD card in place but the rubber will rot out and fail and the fit with some cases is a problem. For a long term fix, I fixed this extension card in place with hot-melt adhesive: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071N ... UTF8&psc=1 The hot-melt is not conductive but you need to take some care to avoid contaminating any contacts with it. I applied it at the edge of the RPI board and at the metal edge of the original card holder. The extension card's holder is just a friction fit as found on the zero and the 3B...no spring.

I have also used the elastic band method, although I eventually got some fine tipped tweezers and pulled out the spring from the SD card slot (just about visible through a hole in the top of the card slot) and now the card is push-in/pull-out just like the Pi 3
